According to the differences in raw materials, processes and performance, artificial boards are mainly divided into the following categories and are widely used in wooden wall panels.

Plywood
Process: It is made of three or more layers of veneer or thin board by gluing and hot pressing. The wood grain direction of adjacent layers is vertical. The common number of layers is 3, 5, 7, and 9 layers.
Raw materials: The main material is log peeled veneer, E0/E1 grade adhesive.
Performance: Stable structure, strong deformation resistance, not easy to crack, suitable as a wallboard substrate. The surface is flat and can be directly pasted with veneer or paint, with good decorative properties. It is more waterproof than medium-density fiberboard and is not easy to expand in a humid environment.
Wallboard application: commonly used in the base structure of whole wallboard and wall skirt, or as a finishing substrate.

MDF

Process: After separating the wood fibers, it is glued and hot-pressed.
Raw materials: wood scraps, bamboo fiber and other fibrous materials, the adhesive is mainly urea-formaldehyde resin.
Performance: uniform material, smooth and delicate surface, suitable for complex shapes such as carving and milling. Poor nail holding force, need to be used with embedded parts. Weak moisture resistance, need to be waterproofed.
Wallboard application: commonly used in the modeling parts of European and French style wallboards, or used as plain board veneer.

Particle board
Process: Dry and glue the wood chips and then hot-press them.
Raw materials: wood processing chips, adhesive.
Performance: low cost, high cost performance, it is the preferred substrate for economical wallboards. Loose structure, average nail holding force, suitable for non-load-bearing parts. Moderate moisture resistance, better than medium density fiberboard but weaker than multilayer board.
Wallboard application: mostly used as the base of simple style wallboard, or with facing paper and PVC film for paint-free treatment.

OSB
Process: small-diameter wood is sliced into large-size slices, oriented and hot-pressed to form a three-layer or multi-layer oriented structure.
Raw materials: pine, fir, etc., and the adhesive is mostly phenolic resin.
Performance: high strength, strong resistance to deformation, can be used as the load-bearing base of wallboard. Good environmental protection, suitable for scenes with high environmental protection requirements such as children's rooms. The surface is rough and requires additional leveling treatment before the surface can be attached.
Wallboard application: seldom used directly for facing, but mostly as the base plate for wallboard installation.
